18 Blockbuster Hollywood Films We Would Like to See in Saudi Cinemas

Black Panther is the first film to be released in Saudi cinemas upon the re-opening. The announcement of positive changes within the kingdom’s entertainment industry has an effervescent effect on Saudi society and there is a buzz around finally being able to enjoy feature length international films.

The move to re-open cinemas is part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s post-oil Vision 2030 project which aims to modernize the conservative kingdom, and boost the economy by creating work opportunities for Saudi nationals through the new changes in Saudi’s entertainment industry, making Saudi Arabia a tourist friendly destination.

Prior to the decision that cinemas would be opening in KSA, many locals admitted that they would travel to countries like the UAE, Egypt or further afield in Europe just to be able to visit cinemas to watch international and Arabic films.

Now that cinemas will be opening across Saudi Arabia, the general public won’t have to travel too far to enjoy a box of popcorn and a good movie on a Friday night.

Censorship for many films containing scene of a sexual nature, drug/alcohol use and violence may still apply, in which case the following feature length movies might be appropriate for Saudi cinema goers.
