Imaan Hammam's Ramadan Message: Solidarity with Palestine

During Ramadan, model Imaan Hammam, of Dutch-Moroccan and Egyptian descent, promoted solidarity with Palestine to her 1.7 million Instagram followers. After collaborating with Sudanese-Canadian poet Mustafa Ahmed on a music video, Hammam urged her audience to remember Palestine during the month of reflection, emphasizing support for Palestinian-owned businesses and the work of US nonprofit Baitulmaal. Ramadan, she stressed, is a time for introspection, compassion, forgiveness, worship, and charity, making it fitting to extend support to those in need, particularly in Palestine.

In the music video for Mustafa Ahmed's song "Imaan," Hammam's involvement was significant, according to the poet himself, who credited her for bringing depth and authenticity to the project.

He wrote, “A love song this wide could only come through you. Thank you for bringing this visual to light with your own fabrics, struggle, hope, distance, and closeness with faith. Every contradiction, sin, and repentance leads us to our truth.”

Hammam reciprocated the sentiment, expressing her deep attachment to the song and describing it as a personal journey of faith, culture, and connection.

Transitioning from her activism to her professional endeavors, Hammam recently participated in Milan Fashion Week, gracing the Versace runway alongside fellow models Gigi Hadid and Loli Bahia. Her outfit, featuring a printed blazer over a brown top paired with black tights and thigh-high leather boots, exuded confidence and style, complemented by striking eye makeup and latex gloves.

Beyond the runway, Hammam also starred in a campaign for US designer Donna Karan's spring 2024 collection titled "In Women We Trust." This campaign brought together eight supermodels, including Hammam, Cindy Crawford, Liya Kebede, Linda Evangelista, Karlie Kloss, Amber Valletta, Carolyn Murphy, and Shalom Harlow. The campaign aimed to redefine luxury and celebrate the power of women, symbolizing a shift towards a more inclusive and empowered vision of femininity in the fashion industry.
