5 Internationally Celebrated Restaurants Are Hosting Pop-Ups At Jeddah Season 2022

From authentic Italian cuisine to Detroit-style pizzas and the flavours found in the Côte d'Azur and the toddy shops and streets of Sri Lanka, the festival has become a real foodie heaven!

Returning to Saudi Arabia after nearly three years, the second edition of Jeddah Season has seen visitors flocking to the long-awaited festival reflecting Jeddah’s rich culture and heritage, as well as its maturing status as a key regional tourist destination. With around 2,800 spectacular art, entertainment and cultural events and shows, under the theme of “Our Lovely Days,” there really is something for everyone at the mega event. And now, with an impressive amount of award-winning international culinary concepts hosting pop-up restaurants, that includes ardent foodies. If you’re one, expect to be blown away while dining at globally renowned eateries Madeo, Le Comptoir de Nicole, Emmy Squared Pizza, Le Vesuvio and Hoppers during the citywide festival, which is continuing throughout June.

Visitors will get the chance to enjoy limited menus to sample each restaurant’s unique culinary offering, available for dinner during weekdays, as well as lunch and dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Le Comptoir de Nicole

One of France’s buzziest and most celebrated bistros, Le Comptoir de Nicole is transporting the brand’s unmistakable Côte d’Azur spirit to Jeddah. Visitors will have the opportunity to indulge in Le Comptoir de Nicole’s authentic Mediterranean menu and most in-demand recipes with delicious flavours from the French Riviera.

Southern tangs without the frill, the menu has something for everyone, including signature dishes such as Salade Niçoise, Carpaccio du Soleil, Burrata Fraîche, Salade d’Artichauts and Le Coquelet. For more indulgent choices, food enthusiasts can opt for Le Double Cheeseburger or Crème Brûlée A La Pistache.

Madeo Ristorante

A well-known West Hollywood dining destination, Madeo Ristorante is serving authentic northern Italian cuisine, by way of family recipes passed down through generations. The restaurant, which successfully laid on pop-ups during Riyadh Season and the Jeddah F1 Grand Prix, is owned and operated by the Vietina family. The epicurean pleasure from the coveted LA hotspot is all about the freshest ingredients and exceptional flavour combinations.

At the pop-up, the restaurant’s menu of traditional Tuscan dishes includes a selection of antipasti like Carpaccio di Manzo, Eggplant Parmigiana and Bufala alla Caprese. What’s more, pasta and risotto lovers won’t be disappointed by the variety of dishes available, like Spaghetti alla Bolognese, Risotto ai Porcini and Penne Madeo. For those looking to tuck into some protein, the selection ranges from Filet Mignon and Grilled Langoustine to Whole-Baked Seabass and more.

Emmy Squared Pizza

Emmy Squared has gained critical acclaim and built up a loyal fanbase across the United States thanks to its iconic square shaped pizzas. They come with deliciously unique toppings, signature sauces, fluffy dough, crispy bottom and a cheesy ‘frico’ crust.

While visiting the American pizzeria, visitors can bite into a variety of their signature Detroit-style pizzas, including Roni Supreme, The Emmy and Hot Chicken. Hamburger enthusiasts won’t feel left out either as the restaurant’s award-winning double-stack burger, Le Big Matt, is also on the menu. Additionally, there’s a selection of small plates and salads, such as Eggplant Parm, Crispy Chicken Crunchers and Kale Italian Salad. Emmy Squared’s pretzel bun sandwiches, including the Chicken Parm and Nashville Hot Katsu Chicken, are also waiting to be savoured.

Le Vésuvio

The contemporary and much-loved Italian restaurant and pizzeria from Cannes is offering Jeddah diners the very best of traditional Italian dishes. Named after the famed Italian volcano Vesuvius, Le Vésuvio promises a modern Italian dining experience highlighting authentic products and high-quality ingredients from Italy’s rich culinary heritage. Northern Italian cooking techniques and traditions are also added to the mix.

Diners with a table at Le Vésuvio can expect soulful Italian food, traditional flavours, a convivial atmosphere and impeccable service. The menu includes an assortment of Le Vésuvio’s signature dishes, starting with appetizers like Minestrone, Caprese di Burrata and Asparagus with Egg & Black Truffle. For mains, there are various pastas and pizzas, such as Lobster Spaghetti, Lasagna Al Forno, Pizza Margherita and Truffle Pizza.

Taking inspiration from Sri Lanka’s village toddy shops and streetside snacks, this award-winning restaurant serves Sri Lankan and South Indian-inspired dishes. Staying true to Hoppers’ philosophy of family-style feasting, the pop-up restaurant by Hoppers at Jeddah Season is serving a selection of the restaurant’s signature dishes. These include the Sizzling Beef Rib Fry, Deviled Paneer, Goat Roti, Chocolate Biskut Pudding and bar bites. Whether it’s the hoppers, dosas, kothus or roasts, this is the chance for Jeddah’s foodies to experience the flavours and spirit of Hoppers.
