16 Best Looks From The 2022 SAG Awards

After the Golden Globes were cancelled back in January, the SAG Awards became Hollywood's first major televised ceremony this year, warranting a seriously epic silver carpet…

One year after the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards virtual red, well technically silver carpet, the original in-person version we’ve missed so much came back with a bang. The 28th edition of the awards ceremony that is presented by SAG-AFTRA and celebrates outstanding performances of the year in film and television saw the nominees, presenters and winners really bringing the heat during the glorious return. The best-dressed stars went all out with their seriously glam looks as they stepped out at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on Sunday.

A fun, joyous vibe took over the event due to the vivid hues that ruled the red carpet. “Little Fires Everywhere” star Kerry Washington let the sunshine in as she stepped out in a larger-than-life neon yellow fitted, strapless Celia Kritharioti Couture SS22 ballgown that came with a knot-front. Meanwhile, Vanessa Hudgens looked stunning in a satin seafoam green Atelier Versace dress, which featured a thin two-strap design with the label’s signature “Medusa” head, a plunging neckline, ruch detail and sexy high-slit. Saniyya Sidney also brought the best of the colour wheel in a bright blue Zuhair Murad gown. The “King Richard” star looked like a princess in the aster off-shoulder organza gown with a draped pleated bodice from the Lebanese maestro’s spring-summer 2022 ready-to-wear collection. Others who helped turn the carpet awash with colour included nominee Cynthia Erivo, looking fierce in a vibrant red Louis Vuitton look, and “House of Gucci” star and presenter Salma Hayek, spotted in a satin halterneck coral hued gown with matching lace gloves by, yes, you guessed it, Gucci. Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor In A Supporting Role winner Ariana DeBose brought a pop of Valentino Couture pink too. The “West Side Story” actor’s strapless, column dress, which is from the brand’s spring 2022 collection, featured a bustle at the back.

Always an elegant and timeless choice, black was another major trend on the SAG carpet, and the looks were anything but boring. Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series winner Hoyeon Jung looked dazzling in a custom look by Louis Vuitton. While making her SAG debut, the South Korean “Squid Game” actor and model struck a pose in the spaghetti strap silk dress, which was hand-embroidered with crystals and silver beads. Another A-lister attending her first SAG Awards ever in the dark hue was Selena Gomez. The multi-hyphenate, who ditched her heels while presenting after she tripped earlier in the evening, opted for a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta number. Gomez, who garnered over 123,000 tweets, making her the most discussed star of the night, nailed it in a velvet column gown with standout puff sleeves that helped her command centre stage. Rosario Dawson also radiated in a black Oscar de la Renta gown, this time a faille one with corset bodice and ruffled strapless neckline. Emilia Jones, meanwhile, dared to bare in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture outfit designed by Matthew M. Williams. Worn with black cut out velvet underwear, the asymmetric dress in silk organza and velvet featured dégradé hand embroidery crystal detail. Nominees Nicole Kidman (“Being the Ricardos”) and Cate Blanchett (“Nightmare Alley”) also showed how the classic colour can add drama to any room in Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani respectively.
