Emirates Airline Features None Other Than Chris Hemsworth

Emirates is a partner and official airline of Expo 2020, and just teamed up with Australian actor, Chris Hemsworth for a new global campaign.

The campaign was shot pre-covid and was directed by Oscar-winning director Robert Stromberg known for his work on “Avatar,” “Maleficent,” and “Alice in Wonderland.”

In the minute and a half video campaign for Emirates, Hemsworth is seen saying, “You want to see the future, come on… This is Dubai and this is the world’s greatest show,” before transporting viewers from Dubai’s beaches, through its never-ending skyline, right to the Expo 2020 Dubai site, teasing what’s in store at the participating country pavilions, to the soundtrack of Gene Wilder’s “Pure Imagination” re-interpreted by a 70-piece orchestra and featuring a children’s choir.

The ad campaign highlights Expo 2020’s focus on the themes of sustainability, technology, innovation and creativity. Due to the advertisement being shot in 2019, while the Expo site was under construction, the campaign used CGI animations to show what the finished event would look like.

Chris Hemsworth, best known for his role as Marvel superhero, Thor, said in a press statement about his Emirates ad and Expo, “In 2019, I partnered with Emirates and Expo 2020 Dubai to help bring awareness to what is a really important event for the world. We all have the power to shape a better future, and the last year and a half has shown us that the possibilities are endless when we put our minds together. At Expo 2020 Dubai, the world will come together in the spirit of collaboration to provide real life solutions that will benefit future generations. If you’re able to travel and you feel it’s safe, I sincerely hope you can make it.”

To encourage tourists to visit the Expo 2020, Emirates is also offering complimentary Expo Day Passes for customers traveling through Dubai anytime during October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.
