Arab Movers And Shakers Stun At Cartier’s High Jewellery Show

Cartier hosted an exclusive series of events to celebrate the magnificent “Sixième Sens par Cartier,” the luxury French maison’s new high jewellery collection inspired by the COVID-19 epidemic. As usual, the regional stars who joined other famous Cartier friends and ambassadors on the sublime shores of Lake Como pulled out all the stops as they attended the unveiling with Il Sereno Lago di Como serving as the perfect backdrop. (The intimate hotel has just been renovated in a contemporary style by Patricia Urquiola, who also signed the scenography of the exhibition, an artistic fusion between architecture and high jewellery.)

The festivities culminated in a gala dinner at Villa Làrio, a stunning venue with a beautiful view on Lake Como, which was chosen because it’s considered a place of rebirth given its storied past, inspiring natural beauty and endless inspiration. After a long period of digital events, guests didn’t hesitate to put their best fashion foot forward for this exciting in-person one hosted by Cyrille Vigneron, president & CEO of Cartier International. And, of course, there was some breathtaking Cartier jewellery on display, helping take the fabulous looks to the next level.

Saudi Princess Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz didn’t disappoint in a voluminous white dress and matching cape-style jacket with standout sleeves. The style icon, entrepreneur and first “Vogue Arabia” Editor-in-Chief teamed her elegant look, which featured trendy pockets, with stunning diamond earrings and bracelets. The royal, who founded Riyadh store DNA also added a pop of colour with a bright lipstick.

Another Saudi to steal the scene was new regional Cartier ambassador Fatima Al-Banawi. The actress, director, blogger and researcher looked radiant in a black and white printed dress by Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad. Al-Banawi’s long, strapless dress featured ruffles and pleats. Styled by Yasmine Issa, the multi-hyphenate with a BA in Psychology from Effat University and a master’s degree in Religious Studies from Harvard University also rocked some bright eye make-up and a nude lipstick. Al-Banawi, known for her “The Other Story Project” foundation, starring in the acclaimed film “Baraka Meets Baraka” and directing “Basma” and “So We See the Light” accessorised her stunning look with a white clutch and a dazzling diamond necklace and earrings.

Yasmine Sabri, another Cartier ambassador, made sure all eyes were on her in a rich emerald green dress by Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran. The Egyptian actress, a renowned women’s empowerment promoter, looked like a vision in the ruched, long sleeved, off-the-shoulder creation. Sabri, 32, opted for a stunning matching emerald and diamond necklace and earrings set, as well as some bangles and a knockout ring to elevate the look further. Considered one of the top actresses in the region, the “Hekayti” and “Tareeky” star in neutral toned make-up also held on to a bedazzling multi-coloured clutch.

Nadine Labaki was another regional star who looked ravishing in a red long and strapless gown. The 47-year-old Lebanese director, screenwriter and actor went for a pair of stunning drop diamond earrings and two identical rings when it came to the jewellery department. Labaki, the first woman from the Arabic-speaking world to be nominated in the Best Foreign Film category at the Golden Globes and Academy Awards for her film “Capernaum,” polished off her look with a black YSL bag with a metal chain strap.

A host of notable international celebrities also looked amazing as they attended the unveiling of the collection that brings every sense alive, “including the sixth, which touches the heart,” as Vigneron described. These included Mariacarla Boscono, Golshifteh Farahani and Bianca Brandolini. Hannah Herzsprung and Sibel Kekilli also turned heads at the event featuring a live performance by Egyptian-Italian singer Mahmoud.
