6 Best Beauty Moments From Oscars 2021

These are the make-up looks and hairstyles that we want to rock ASAP.

The 93rd Academy Awards on Sunday marked the end of a unique award season (for obvious reasons). And despite the two-month postponement and huge scaling down, the epic finale saw the standout beauty details we have all come to expect from nominees, presenters and guests during Hollywood’s biggest night.

Before the stars gathered at the Los Angeles Dolby Theatre and Union Station, the glam squads pulled out all the stops. And there’s nothing like a real red carpet to help us take notes about our next big night out hair and make-up aspirations.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry kept her beauty look simple with a nude no-make-up make-up look by Jorge Monroy. For that red carpet glow, he used Clinique products and Artis Elite brushes, which helped achieve her perfectly flawless look.

However, it was undoubtedly the presenter’s edgy hair change that was the highlight. The new blunt, asymmetrical, perfectly angled super short bob is reminiscent of Vidal Sassoon’s renowned geometric cuts and comes with trendy baby bangs. The cheek-grazing strands were crafted by hairstylist Sara Seward, who used Oribe and Leonor Greyl products.

Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett served up a bold eyeshadow moment that’s hard to forget. Celebrity make-up guru D'Andre Michael brought the cinema legend’s gorgeous jewel-toned smokey eye to life using Lancôme’s “Hypnôse Drama Eyeshadow” palette in Blue Hypnotique and the house’s black smokey eyeliner, used on the inner lower and upper eyelid. The Cleopatra-inspired look that caused double takes was complemented with a muted brick-red lip.

The star who was on hand to present also rocked a “minimal, classic and sleek” hairdo, as hairstylist Randy Stodgill called it. The ultra-polished, glossy blown-out style came with a middle part and hair tucked and pinned behind the ears.

H.E.R.

H.E.R. sealed her rockstar status with this anything but boring make-up look. Make-up artist Marissa Vossen went for a thick, sharp and graphic cat-eye liner in purple shades to match with the singer’s hooded outfit. The vibey top-to-toe purple look on H.E.R., who nabbed the Best Original Song award for “Fight For You,” included a satiny berry lip.

We also loved the Rapunzel-like hairdo by stylist Nina Monique. The slick, hip-length hair was gathered all on one side, with the smooth waves complemented by long, side-parted bangs and swooped baby hairs.

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie’s looked softly radiant thanks to the sunshine glow created by make-up artist extraordinaire Pati Dubroff. She used all Chanel products, including ‘Palette Essentielle” in Caramel for the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" star’s cheeks, as a bronzer, as well as to contour the skin and lightly define the eyes. The sunny days inspired look was topped off with a warm, neutral lippie.

While the romantic and optimistic make-up look was too good, it was the hairstyle the presenter and “Promising Young Woman” producer debuted that sent Twitter into a spin. As well as a gorgeous new caramel colour, longtime hairstylist Bryce Scarlett gave Robbie stunning soft, textured eyelash-dusting of-the-moment bangs. He pulled the layered locks into a super low and loose “fresh, effortless” ponytail, as he described it.

Andra Day

Andra Day matched her molten-gold gown with a similarly haute glam bronzed beauty look, which featured touches of burgundy, to light up the red carpet. For the gilded tones on “The United States vs. Billie Holiday” star’s eyes, global make-up artist Porsche Cooper used Chanel’s “Les 4 Ombres” eyeshadow palettes in Codes Élégants and Warm Memories. The house’s illuminating blush powder and multi-use glow stick were also applied for glowing skin, while “Rouge Coco Bloom” lipstick in Dream complemented the look.

We also loved the Best Actress nominee’s 70s-style curly and romantic updo featuring soft individual ringlets by hairstylist Tony Medina. As well as using Schwarzkopf’s Hydrate Booster, Elastic Spray 1 and Magic Anti Frizz Serum, Medina used GHD tools to create the look.

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried exuded classic Hollywood glamour in a monochrome burgundy eye and lip combination that added drama to her crimson frock. Inspired by the classic yet contemporary dress, make-up maven Genevieve Herr opted for a bold, modern saturated wine lip. The matching subtle eye-make up on the “Mank” star, which featured warm colours and bright highlights, was created with another Lancôme product, the “Hypnôse 5-Color” eyeshadow palette in Rose Fusion.

The Best Actress in a Supporting Role nominee had her hair in an elegant, side-swept, low, slicked back chignon. Hairstylist Renato Campora used Frédéric Fekkai products and Dyson tools to execute the chic hairdo.
