Celebrities Rally Around Zuhair Murad’s Beirut Disaster Relief Efforts

Trust half-Saudi Shanina Shaik to back the charitable initiative…

It’s confirmed, Zuhair Murad is seriously loved by his A-list clientele. Some of the Lebanese designer’s biggest celebrity fans are showing support for his efforts to raise money for Beirut disaster relief. Murad has come up with limited-edition T-shirts and other pieces in order to give back to his country after an explosion ripped through the Lebanese capital on August 4. And the creative announced on Instagram that 100 percent of the profits will support ongoing relief efforts by Offrejoie, a Lebanese humanitarian organisation.

“Modern Family” actress Sofia Vergara, who opted for a stunning custom design by Murad for her 2015 nuptials to Joe Manganiello, was one of the first stars to don a T-shirt and pose for a picture. To raise awareness and funds, she took to Instagram and captioned it with, “I am joining @zuhairmuradprivate in helping the people of Beirut. Other than the fitted unisex T-shirt, which comes in black and white and retails for $25.99, options include a female jersey T-shirt, a tank top, a hoodie and a long-sleeved top. Murad’s 11-storey offices and atelier were destroyed in the blast that killed around 200 people, left thousands wounded and 300,000 homeless.

"My heart is broken. Can't stop crying. The efforts of years went in a moment," the designer, who has dressed the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Candice Swanepoel, Beyoncé and Priyanka Chopra, shared on Instagram.
