Starting in October 2020, Expo 2020 Dubai is set to bring together millions of people to celebrate human brilliance and achievement under the theme Connecting Minds, Creating the Future. And during the mega six-month event that has something for everyone, Cartier will be celebrating international female change-makers with its Women’s Pavilion. The unique collaboration takes a new look at the contribution of women and their impact on society, shining a light on the countless achievements, past and present, which have boosted economies and enhanced communities.

The Women’s Pavilion celebrates history-making women who are stimulating change, famous and unknown, from all parts of the world, cultures and religions. Whether they are global political figures, local community members or trailblazing business leaders, they provide a global platform to recognise the impact of women and their influence on our society. Amal Clooney’s endorsement

Supported by Amal Clooney, the unique collaboration with Cartier will offer new perspectives on women and aims to raise global awareness and inspire people from all generations to make a difference everywhere.

Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and human rights lawyer Clooney are adding clout to the Women’s Pavilion by lending their support. The two women are known as defenders of and campaigners for women’s rights, women’s empowerment and gender equality.

The UN Women chief praised the UAE for its efforts towards women

Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka commended the UAE for creating a space that will allow millions of visitors to learn about the important roles women play around the world, while being aware of the hurdles they still face on a daily basis.

“These challenges cannot be solved by governments alone, but through meaningful and substantive collaborations with the private sector, civil societies and committed individuals. The Women’s Pavilion, in collaboration with Cartier, is setting a needed standard for corporations to rethink their approach to gender advocacy – and is a powerful platform to cascade the gender equality message to the world,” the UN Women chief said.

The Women’s Pavillon pushes for dialogue on women empowerment

With Expo 2020 Dubai’s theme in mind, the exciting addition will also spotlight the breadth and wealth of female expertise that is inspiring and empowering global citizens to create a better future. The Women’s Pavilion will take visitors on an enlightening journey showcasing male and female contributors to women’s empowerment and gender equality. Additionally, it will highlight important milestones for women’s rights.

While talking about the area designed to foster dialogue among a diverse community of artists, scientists, thought leaders, politicians, entrepreneurs, business leaders and more, Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy said, “The Women’s Pavilion highlights the crucial roles that women have long played as linchpins of their communities and drivers of economies.” The UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau added that it highlights the unparalleled event’s “commitment to empowering all women to drive their own development and create a better future for us all.”

Expo 2020: Did you know?

· 25 million visits are expected, with many visitors expected to come more than once.
· The first World Expo to take place in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia will be located on a 4.38 sqkm site adjacent to Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai South.
· Over 200 participants – including 192 nations, multilateral organisations, businesses and educational institutions – are coming together to highlight real-life solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
