Since 2005, Fashion for Relief, a charitable organisation, has been raising millions for environmental and humanitarian causes. These have ranged from the Haiti earthquake and Hurricane Katrina to combatting Ebola. The theme at the 13 May event during the 71st annual Cannes Film Festival was “Race to Equality,” which extends a helping hand to the #Time’s Up movement.

Striking model Naomi Campbell, who once again organised the fashion show during the gala, told press that “equality means to me to be treated fairly in equal ways, impartiality, wherever you are in the world.” Campbell, one of the three most in-demand models of the late 1980s and 1990s ,who appeared on numerous prestigious magazine covers, also hinted she might be retiring. “I don’t know if I can walk much longer, it’s been 32 years,” she said.

The leggy Brit, who is an activist and spokesperson for Fashion for Relief, showed exactly why she has maintained her supermodel status throughout the years. The audience got to see her world-renowned talent on the runway as she strutted in a tight corseted Dolce & Gabbana gown. As well as feather and floral embellishments, the elaborate full fuchsia skirt had graffiti and paint splatter prints all over. Campbell, 47, added even more pizzazz with a show-stopping choker piece.

To make the event even more memorable, Campbell, who has also dabbled in acting and singing, was joined by some models-of-the-moment. Bella Hadid, Sara Sampaio, Winnie Harlow and Natalia Vodianova all looked gorgeous and fearless as they showed off their own signature swaggers. The beauty from Streatham, who also had Nataha Poly, Michelle Rodriguez and Daria Strokous join, ushered in the younger talents who stood supportively her side as the show came to an end. She said the event should “be carried on by the younger generation and for me to sit in the audience and watch.”
