“All Muslim women should feel empowered in what they wear.”

The emerging modest fashion scene is getting stronger by the day, we’re seeing more clothing options from high street designers, luxury brands and up and coming micro brands catering to the Muslim market too.

Only 24 hours after launching its crowdfunding campaign, a modest streetwear line is already past half way to its goal. There is no surprise as to how or why, the designs are fashion-forward and a modest wear enthusiast’s dream.

Seek Refuge is the brainchild of Shazia Ijaz; a 25 year old Pakistani-American woman who created the modest wear line for the Mulsim women not feeling included by existing streetwear brands.

Ijaz wrote on the Indiegogo page for the brand, “As a Muslim woman, I saw too few lines catering to girls like myself. There were no Islamic women’s brands which appealed to all Muslim women, who practice different levels of modesty. Nothing fit the style of the fashion-forward, edgy, millennial Muslim woman.”

The Seek Refuge collection currently consists of two t-shirts, an oversized denim jacket and an edgy hoodie. Each piece adding streetwear chic to any modista’s wardrobe.

Through this brand, Shazia Ijaz is going down the universe friendly, ethical route by partnering with a manufacturer in Turkey and two schools in Jordan whose pupils include Syrian refugees.

The same sentiments are apparent in her designs; the print on the denim jacket is a poem written by a Syrian refugee.

Shipping worldwide, Ijaz intends on using her small brand to make a big difference.
