Global Celebrities Rally for Gaza: Anticipating a January Charity Concert in Solidarity

Prominent figures, including famous models and worldwide performers, have been vocal in their support of Gaza during the Israeli onslaught. Notable voices in the fashion and entertainment realms, such as the US Dutch Palestinian supermodel Bella Hadid and the US Palestinian DJ duo Simi and Haze Khadra, have fervently advocated for action and donations to aid the people of Gaza.

Bella Hadid, whose pro-Palestine stance has made her a target, disclosed on Instagram Stories in October that her family had faced death threats due to her outspoken support. Expressing her concern, she emphasized the urgency of breaking the silence, narrating the heart-wrenching scenes of pain and trauma reminiscent of her Palestinian heritage. She mourned the loss of lives and underscored the gravity of the situation in Gaza.

Simi and Haze Khadra, the Palestinian DJ duo and beauty entrepreneurs, took a philanthropic step by announcing on Instagram in November that all sales from their makeup brand, SimiHaze Beauty, until November 27th would be donated to the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF). They highlighted PCRF's efforts in providing free medical care and evacuating children from Gaza. Their social media accounts have become platforms for raising awareness about the daily struggles in Gaza.

US singer-songwriter Kehlani has also emerged as a vocal advocate, using her social media presence to speak out on the Palestinian cause. Addressing a pro-Palestine rally in Downtown Los Angeles in October, she emphasized the straightforward nature of the issue and encouraged her followers to make a choice that transcends personal interests, urging them to stand on the right side of history.

In a collective effort, British rapper Stormzy and an array of international performers are set to participate in a benefit concert on January 4th in New Jersey. The concert aims to raise funds for Gaza and Sudan, with proceeds directed towards Human Concern International, an NGO providing humanitarian aid. The diverse lineup includes US performers Clairo, Faye Webster, Omar Apollo, Nick Hakim, 070Shake, and 6lack, as well as Canadian musicians Charlotte Day Wilson and Daniel Caesar. Palestinian writer and poet Mohammed El-Kurd, Sudanese Canadian poet Mustafa, and US Egyptian comedian Ramy Youssef will also contribute their voices to the cause. This collaborative effort signifies a global solidarity in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Sudan.
