KSA Secured Women Empowerment Award at Digital Government Forum 2023

Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, achieved a significant milestone by securing the first position and receiving the Women Empowerment Award in the technical field, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Tuesday. This accomplishment was announced during the Digital Government Forum 2023, a two-day event that concludes today, with the award presented by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The recognition underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing the role and empowerment of women in a variety of fields. It displays a strong conviction in women's potential and their significant contributions to achieving the goals set forth in the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative.

The award acknowledges the ministry's exceptional commitment to advancing women's empowerment, marking a significant progress in this field. Notably, Saudi Arabia's technical industry has seen a significant upsurge in the empowerment of women, with the percentage of Saudi female participation climbing from 7% in 2018 to an astounding 35% in 2023. This is more than what Silicon Valley, the Group of Twenty (G20), and the European Union have in terms of involvement.

The Digital Government Authority hosted the "Digital Government Forum" on December 19-20, bringing together government agencies, ministers, experts, and decision-makers in digital government nationally and globally. The forum aimed to showcase achievements, share success stories, encourage networking, exchange experiences, form alliances, discuss challenges, explore technical procedures, and highlight investment potential in the Kingdom.

According to the authority's press release, Governor Eng. Ahmed Alsuwaiyan highlighted that the upcoming Digital Government Forum will build on the success of its 2022 edition. The event aims to sustain efforts, celebrate achievements, promote global digital government standards, and enhance digital services for efficiency and satisfaction.

The forum highlighted digital transformation through dialogues and workshops, introducing new digital products. Winners of the 2nd Digital Government Award in Saudi Arabia and the fifth GCC session were also announced.

The accompanying Digital Saudi Exhibition will spotlight leading private-sector digital services, aligning with the digital government's strategic vision for a promising future.
