French Theatres Open "The Three Musketeers: Milady," Starring Lyna Khoudri

This week marked the premiere of "The Three Musketeers: Milady" in France, where the release of the film was celebrated with the presence of a star-studded cast including François Civil, Vincent Cassel, Romain Duris, Louis Garrel, Eva Green, and French Algerian actress Lyna Khoudri. While Alexandre Dumas' novel has seen multiple film adaptations over the years, it has been over a decade since the last cinematic interpretation of "The Three Musketeers."

The film, which opened in French theatres on December 13 and was directed by Martin Bourboulon, is the follow-up to "The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan," which was released in April.

In this cinematic rendition, Khoudri takes on the role of Constance Bonacieux, the romantic interest of D’Artagnan, the most popular among the musketeers. The narrative takes shape as D’Artagnan (played by Civil), kidnapped by traitors to the king, focuses on a key mission: collaborating with Milady (played by Green) to find his beloved Constance (played by Khoudri), who has also been captured. With the declaration of war and Athos, Porthos, and Aramis already deployed to the front lines, an old secret upends established coalitions.

Lyna Khoudri, made a name for herself with her role as Nedjma in Mounia Meddour’s acclaimed drama "Papicha," earning her the Orizzonti Award for Best Actress at the 74th Venice Film Festival. Notable for her contributions to the industry, she was also part of the cast in Wes Anderson’s 2021 comedy "The French Dispatch," sharing the screen with Timothee Chalamet, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, and Owen Wilson.

Her presence at the Marrakech International Film Festival last month, where she wore an elegant Chanel outfit, showcased her alongside other stars like Faical Laraichi, Tilda Swinton, Jessica Chastain, Isabelle Huppert, and Melita Toscan du Plantier. Khoudri is among the growing roster of Arab stars making strides in Hollywood, joining the ranks of Ramy Youssef, Tahar Rahim, Dali Benssalah, and Mena Massoud.
