Saudi Engineer and NEOM Robotics Expert to Speak at Geneva AI Summit

Amjad Alamri, a highly skilled mechanical engineer from Saudi Arabia, has been selected by the Misk Foundation to be a speaker at the prestigious International Telecommunication Union's AI for Good Global Summit, held in Geneva on July 6-7. Expressing her gratitude on Twitter, Alamri stated that she was nominated by the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Foundation for this significant opportunity.

Currently serving as a senior specialist at NEOM, Alamri is actively involved in integrating autonomous technologies into various systems and improving the efficiency of construction vehicles. Additionally, she has the important responsibility of identifying the most suitable construction robots to be implemented on-site, ensuring their effective integration. This project advances the Saudi Arabian building sector and is consistent with NEOM's goal of being the most sustainable metropolis in the world.

Before assuming her current role, Alamri gained valuable experience working at Oxagon, NEOM's industrial city, as well as at Lucid Motors. With a strong background in the automotive industry, she has successfully built race cars and participated in prominent competitions like the Formula Student and World Solar Challenge showcasing her expertise and passion for her field.

Furthermore, Alamri serves as an active board member of the Saudi Women Engineers Association, a groundbreaking organization in the Kingdom that focuses on empowering women in the engineering sector. Through this involvement, she contributes to advancing gender equality and promoting diversity within the industry.

The AI for Good Global Summit, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in collaboration with 40 United Nations agencies and the Swiss government, serves as a platform for exploring the potential of artificial intelligence in achieving sustainable development goals. By harnessing AI's capabilities, the summit aims to advance areas such as health, climate action, gender equality, inclusive prosperity, and sustainable infrastructure, all of which are vital for global development priorities.

This distinguished event brings together influential figures from various fields. Among the notable speakers are Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations; Doreen Bogdan-Martin, the Secretary-General of the ITU; Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization; and Lila Ibrahim, the Chief Operating Officer at Google DeepMind.
