The Cannes Film Festival Is Dominated By Saudi Actors And Arab Designers

Saudi model Amira Al-Zuhair made a fashionable statement at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival, donning a unique pink gown created by Lebanese designer Rami Kadi. Al-Zuhair, who has a French mother and a Saudi father and was born in Paris, showcased a corset-style off-the-shoulder dress with a voluminous skirt at the prestigious festival's 76th edition.

She attended the premiere of "Jeanne du Barry," a film that marked Johnny Depp's return to the spotlight following a highly publicized defamation trial, and received support from Saudi Arabia's Red Sea International Film Festival.

Expressing her excitement on Instagram, Al-Zuhair, a proud French and Saudi woman, shared the opening ceremony details with her 46,000 followers, emphasizing the significance of "Jeanne du Barry" as the first international co-production between Saudi Arabia and France. Meanwhile, Johnny Depp, appearing rejuvenated, engaged with fans, signing autographs and taking photos before the movie's debut.

The Cannes Film Festival lived up to its glitzy image with an array of celebrities gracing the red carpet. Mads Mikkelsen, Helen Mirren with blue hair, and John C. Reilly were among the stars making their grand entrance.

Michael Douglas, accompanied by his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and their daughter Carys, walked into the Grand Theatre Lumiere without stopping for autographs, as the 78-year-old actor was honored with a Palme d'Or award. Both Zeta-Jones and Carys showcased gowns by Lebanese couturier Elie Saab, with Zeta-Jones wearing a plunging neckline red gown and Carys wearing a white translucent gown from Saab’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection.
