A Saudi Program Is Training Women From 28 Countries In Data & AI

Working alongside Google Cloud, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority has started the first stage in a program that will be training 1000 women from 28 countries around the world in honing their skills in data and AI.

The program is called The Elevate Program and will be ongoing until the 30th of August. This program was actually announced towards the end of summer last year at the Global AI Summit, which was hosted in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority has released a statement regarding the program, and it said: “The first phase of the program is offered under the supervision of 16 female and male trainers from the authority through two tracks; one for technical specialists and the other for non-specialists who wish to develop their skills.”

The statement goes on to explain the technicalities of the program, stating, “The program offers free training sessions designed to equip participants with the skills and experience needed for roles such as cloud engineer, data engineer, machine learning engineer, or cloud business.”

The Elevate Program has been created to be able to empower women in emerging markets all over the world. It aims to develop their proficiencies, and ultimately enable them to pursue their passions and dream in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. As you already know, the latter two sectors have been taking over the world, as many tech companies worldwide scurry to staff specialists and professionals in these exact fields.

The goal with this program is to train 25,000 women from now until the upcoming 5 years, and ultimately narrow down the gender gap between women and men in the field of science, engineering, mathematics, and technology.

Saudi Arabia is pushing all limits when it comes to Artificial Intelligence, as one of the kingdoms goals is to become a global leader in that field. With strategies in place, many national plans have been leaning towards developing roadmaps for AI infrastructure, research institutions, healthcare facilities, smart cities, renewable energy, and education.
