The organizations, associations, and the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia all commemorated World Autism Day, which takes place annually on April 2nd. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder and its symptoms, as well as promote the inclusion and acceptance of individuals with autism in society, and improve their quality of life.
In Najran, a city located in the south of the country, the Irada Autism Association organized a special day with the participation of both public and commercial organizations. The event took place at Al-Okhdood Club stadium and included an awareness display, instructional activities, and seminars.
The goal of the exhibition was to increase public knowledge of the characteristics of autism and the services that are offered to people with autism in the Kingdom in sectors like education, health, and non-governmental organizations. The day's events also offered guidance on various pursuits, including athletics and amusement, that can be advantageous for people with autism.
The Irada Autism Association's executive director, Mansour Samran, explained that the group's mission was to inform autistic people and their families about the resources available to assist them receive medical care and educational services. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the association also intended to inform the general public about autism through classes and talks. Samran continued by saying that the organization has been offering services and therapy counsel to assist people with autism in adjusting, interacting, and participating in society.
World Autism Day was also commemorated in Hail, a city in the north of the country. Nawal Al-Asham, the assistant director general of educational affairs for girls in the city, emphasized that this day helps to shine a spotlight on individuals with autism and their unique challenges. She also noted that the Ministry of Education has been making efforts to provide 212 programs in general schools to support individuals with this developmental disability.
World Autism Day serves as an important occasion to highlight the challenges faced by individuals with autism and promote understanding and acceptance in the community.
