Saudi Plans For A Water Project Longer Than The Nile River Are Unveiled

Saudi Arabia is embarking on an ambitious project to create the largest source of drinkable water in the world, by digging an underground river that would span an astounding 12,000 kilometers in length, 11 meters in width, and four meters in depth. This initiative aims to exceed the Nile River, which is presently the longest river in the world, in length.

The construction of this subterranean river will necessitate the use of anti-corrosion pipelines, each with a width of 2.25 meters, according to Ahmad Al Shugairi, a well-known Saudi journalist who covered the project for his TV series, Seen. Saudi Arabia's underground conduit system will cover 126,000 kilometers, or three times the circumference of the globe. 9.4 million cubic meters of water will be produced every day once the project is finished, which will result in enormous water production.

Al Shugairi added that this upcoming network for transporting desalinated water will be among the largest in the entire globe. With over 1.006 billion cubic meters produced annually, or 18% of global production, Saudi Arabia presently leads the globe in desalinated water production. The Saline Water Conversion Corporation, a government-controlled organization in charge of creating the majority of the desalinated water used worldwide, plays a major role in facilitating this. 495.3 million cubic meters of water are produced by the corporation's desalination facilities on the eastern shore, while 511.3 million cubic meters are produced by the coastal sites. The combined annual production of these two areas is 1006.6 million cubic meters. Additionally, the 27 active distillation facilities in the nation produce 24,884,807 MWh of electrical energy in total.

Al Shugairi voiced his appreciation for the work put into constructing underground waterways and noted that it gives Saudi Arabians access to water in a region that is primarily desert. He expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed and said that he had taken this gift for granted.

This project produces a genuinely astounding quantity of water. Every individual would receive two gallons or two bottles of water from the output of water sweetened in Saudi Arabia if it were dispersed to the entire world's population. Despite being located in a desert area, Saudi Arabia is dedicated to making sure that its people have access to pure and secure drinking water. The initiative will not only be advantageous to Saudi Arabia but also might be advantageous to the rest of the globe.
