The formal release of the national team's home and away jerseys marks the beginning of Adidas' collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.
The home jersey, which draws inspiration from the palm tree seen in the national emblem, represents the development, energy, and prosperity of the nation. Gold-like elements lend a touch of elegance and a high-end feel to the design, making it stand out both on and off the field.
The home uniform for the women's national team has a special variant of the same palm tree-inspired design, making it slightly distinct from the men's jersey.
This highlights the federation's dedication to the expansion and development of women's football in the Kingdom, which also happens to coincide with the women's team setting a new record by being the first official FIFA-ranked nation in their history.
The classic adidas three stripes are shown in gold on the dark green sleeves of the white away shirt, which are a nod to the nation's flag. The tie between Saudi Arabian culture and football is commemorated on both jerseys.
Adidas' “Weaved as One” campaign, which honors Saudi culture while also stressing concepts of solidarity among football communities and beyond, serves to officially debut the new uniforms.
The uniform launch marks the beginning of a four-year relationship between adidas and the SAFF at a time when football is expanding across the nation at all levels. The expansion of women's football will be further aided by the addition of a new age group in addition to the women's team becoming a FIFA-ranked nation for the first time.
Sweat-wicking, moisture-absorbent technology, as well as strategically placed breathable mesh inserts, are features of both the home and away kits. Additionally, only recycled materials were used to make the whole line.
SAFF President Yasser Al-Misehal reacted to the new Green Falcons uniform's introduction by saying: “We’re extremely proud to usher in this new era for Saudi football with the famous three stripes of adidas emblazoned upon our men’s and women’s national team kits.
“They are a symbol of unity and inspiration, and to see our men, women, boys and girl players, and fans wearing it as one – side to side, shoulder to shoulder – is exactly how football should be.
“In adidas, we have a partner that places equal importance to the women’s national team, which reflects how we operate at the federation. Together we are excited to continue building on the strong momentum of Saudi football across both the men’s and women’s game, while inspiring millions of young footballers along the way.”
As of March 23, the home and away jerseys will be offered both online at adidas.com and at certain adidas stores.
