Helena Christensen & Eva Herzigova Don Saudi Designers At Oscars After-Party

Saudi designers have made their mark at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscars After-Party in Los Angeles, as Helena Christensen and Eva Herzigova made heads turn by flaunting stunning designs made by two of the Kingdom’s very own. Both models sported bespoke and sustainable gowns that were created by Arwa Al-Ammari and Abeer Oraif respectively, with the support of AlUla Creates.

Herzigova looked resplendent in a peach-colored organza gown designed by Arwa Al-Ammari's label, ArAm. Christensen was no less impressive in her white tulle dress created by Atelier Hekayat, a demi-couture brand founded by sisters Abeer and Alia Oraif. The duo also revealed that the dress was inspired by the midnight sky of AlUla and was made from upcycled tulle that had walked through the sands of the magnificent site.

The designs were brought to life with the help of British designer Emilia Wickstead, who contributed her experience and expertise in production to give shape to the creations. Al-Ammari, who was present at the event, said that her dress for Herzigova was inspired by the historical tombs of AlUla, the incense roads, and the curves and lines in the stones and the desert. She took to her Instagram Stories to talk about the design stating, “AlUla is a land of an extraordinary human and natural heritage. Getting inspired by this magical place to design a dress that tells part of our story, reflecting on heritage and showing it to the world during one of the most prestigious fashion and film events of all time in LA is a milestone in my career.”

The designers are part of AlUla Creates, a platform designed to encourage creativity and empower the future generations of film, art, and fashion. The program aims to provide new female filmmakers and creatives with an opportunity to work alongside leading industry professionals and access development funds to create and share their work. The first phase of the program is being held in partnership with The British Fashion Council, Saudi film star Mila Al-Zahrani, Kloss Films founder Alec Maxwell, and fashion icons Helena Christensen and Eva Herzigova.

In addition to showcasing the magnificence of Saudi Arabia to a global audience, the event also highlighted the country's commitment to sustainability and responsible fashion. By creating bespoke and sustainable looks that showcase the beauty of AlUla, these designers are setting an example for the fashion industry and proving that fashion can be both beautiful and responsible.
