Everything You Need To Know About Riyadh’s Inaugural Space Fair

The Riyadh Space Fair, in its first edition, has the theme “Man and Space,” and is currently running at the King Salman Science Oasis until the end of February.

Having opened its doors to the public on the 22nd of January 2023, the event dedicated to space offers up immersive experiences, educational and informative information, and the opportunity for visitors of all ages to discover interesting facts about space and space science.

For its theme, “Man and Space,” the fair showcases the relationship between humans and the universe, and allows people to explore the unknown wonders about space, whilst also learning about the achievements and strides mankind has made in understanding the universe and its cosmos.

The Riyadh Space Fair is also educating people on the scientific developments that have allowed mankind to explore space. It includes seven stations of live experiences full of information and entertainment.

Each station takes visitors to Riyadh Space Fair on a virtual journey to explore the developments humans have made in fields like astronomy, cosmology, and contemporary scientific theories about the nature of the universe. These experiences include entertaining educational games, interactive simulators such as “Walking on Mars,” and experimentation with tools used to study the universe, such as telescopes and satellites.

Haifa Al-Idrisi, director of the event, told a local news outlet, “The fair aims to educate on everything related to space, through the pioneering experience of seven different areas that exist in the real world.” She continued, “The experience of seven different zones will be presented in both interactive and educational ways. It will be through a moving exhibition containing holdings from several places, all related to space science, spacecraft, zero gravity, and interaction through simulators.”

Supervisor of the lifestyle sector at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City Khalid Al-Hazani, conveyed that the Riyadh Space Fair combines science and entertainment whilst making efforts to educate residents and visitors about scientific and cultural life. The fair has also helped to create job opportunities in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The fair is organized by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Saudi Space Commission, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, and the King Salman Science Oasis.
