Missoni, the Italian fashion brand founded in Sumirago in 1953 by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni, celebrates the 2023 Chinese New Year (Year of the Rabbit) with the capsule collection Missoni CNY.
The rabbit, already part of the brand’s dreamscape in the last few seasons - along with other toy figures to represent the bonds that tie us to our emotions and playfulness - here becomes the natural protagonist in this capsule collection, where consistency, colour, 3D nature and emotionality play a key role. A hybrid, cross-sectional collection, where genderless items are offered alongside men and women’s clothing.
The Missoni characteristic style, composed of iconic woven patterns, comes to life through the use of traditional Chinese New Year colours - red/burgundy-black-white along with pink-beige -in all the outfits and accessories of the collection.
Sweaters and cardigans are produced with 3D-effect yarns that reproduce the iconic Caperdoni knit designs by Missoni, allowing the combination of more colours in different proportions for an ultratextured final result. Along with these are sectioned outfits and colour-scaled knitwear (lightweight wool and lurex). Jersey items are offered in the form of soft sweatshirts and t-shirts where the rabbit graphic is embroidered in space-dye fabric. Space-dye fabric also features in the patches on the 5- pocket denim trousers, as well as in the badge-holder in the rabbit charm.
To round off the collection there are textile accessories – scarf, beanie, balaclava, wrap and ear muffs – and some Missoni Home items: cushion and plaid throw (featuring the same knitwear designs used in the RTW section) and a space-dye knit rabbit.
The Missoni CNY collection is on sale in the Missoni flagship stores in Shanghai and Chengdu, from selected retailers in China, on missoni.com and on the Chinese e-commerce website T-Mall.
