3 Best Beauty Looks from Milan & Paris Fashion Weeks

From gorgeous feminine and bold make-up, to a focus on naturally glowing skin.

The four major fashion weeks have certainly caused a fashion frenzy. However, we were also on the edge of our seats watching out for the best new beauty trends coming our way next spring/summer. Here, we’ve picked three shows that delivered some the most memorable beauty moments. Read on to find out how the looks were created and which products were used.

Bold & Modern Giorgio Armani
For spring/summer 2018, the team at Giorgio Armani Beauty focused on the eyes, presenting an audacious black and white eye make-up look. Natural glowing skin and lips, alongside no-nonsense space-inspired style hair by the Aldo Coppola Agency, provided a flawless canvas to allow the eyes to express Armani’s vision of artistry during his ‘Ateliers d’Artistes’ show.

The windows of the soul were straight and elongated thanks to an intense black waterproof crayon. Armani Beauty’s multi-purpose Eye & Brow Maestro (in Obsedian Black) was then applied over the line. The crayon was also used on the eye socket and underneath the eyes, all set with a matte translucent loose powder. Flashes of white were created on the centre lid, inside corner and outside third of lower lid with a universal highlighter, helping to keep eyes clean and contrasted. The highlighter was also applied on the brow bone, going down onto the tops of the cheekbone. Plus, a concealer that exactly matched the moisturised skin’s tone was applied, helping skin appear perfect but natural. To finish off the look, some lip balm was dabbed on.

The look was created with the Armani Runway Lab, a unique beauty tool made of a range of pigments and bases that are formulated backstage for the shows. And thankfully, customers are able to recreate looks with the “Armani Runway Make-Up” collection. So if you loved this make-up idea, the new “Blend & Layer Couture Kit” will come in very handy. According to Linda Cantello, Giorgio Armani’s International Make-up Artist, the new collection is inspired by a painter's aquarelle and “lets you create your own version of the Armani Runway look."  With her belief that “nothing blends like liquid,” Cantello, developed three fluid multi-usage colours. Coming in white, nude and shocking pink with different textures and finishes, they have been designed specifically to create the show’s look. The black waterproof crayon will also be included in the collection.

A Timeless Beauty Mantra At Dolce & Gabbana
Also in Milan, Italian duo Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana opted for their custom bold Italian beauty look, incorporating glowing skin, winged eyeliner and bold lips. Here’s how Pat McGrath created the stunning look at the Queen of Hearts inspired show:

The models’ polished complexions had a glow thanks to the brand’s Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation, which was blended outward, from the centre of the face towards the ears. Their naturally flushed cheeks were created by using a peachy pink coloured blush on the apples of the cheeks and up towards the ears and a matte tan coloured blush to contour the face and add a sunkissed touch. Then a bit of light was added to amplify the glow using Dolce & Gabbana’s The Illuminator in Eva 3 along the cheekbones and on the line of the nose, plus some pressed powder was swept over the face to perfect the complexion.

The iconic feline eye look was accomplished by blending four colours across the eyelids first (Perfect Mono Eyeshadow in Goldust 20, Nude 30, Desert 40 and Coffee 120).  There was also a hint of gold shimmer on the eyes thanks to some gold eyeliner, which was applied over the inner corner of the eyes. The upper and lower lash lines were amplified by smudging on some black eyeliner, additionally a line of the new Emotioneyes High Definition Eyeliner Stylo in Nero 1 was drawn along the upper lash line for intensity. To top off the eye area, curled lashes were given lashings of mascara, with special attention to the outer corners for definition and volumising finish, accompanied by bold yet natural brows.

On the lips, a variety of iconic red, burgundy or pink shades in creamy textures were applied by taping the fingers over the lips. Neutral nail polish and super simple hair with a middle parting, often accompanied with pretty floral pieces, trinkets and tiaras, complemented the make-up.

Glow, Baby, Glow at Saint Laurent
It was all about glowing skin and enhancing natural beauty at Saint Laurent during the label’s recent nighttime show in Paris, with a twinkling Eiffel Tower as the ultimate backdrop. Tom Pecheux, the Global Beauty Director for YSL Beauté, says it is “true beauty, ‘me but better’. It is about youth, healthy skin and little make-up.” For his inspiration at the fashion show, the make-up maestro, who has joined Saint Laurent for a second season, looked to designer Anthony Vaccarello.

Pecheux believes great make-up is much easier with good skin, so just before the show he gave the models a prep massage with some of YSL Beauté’s Or Rouge Huile Voluptueuse. The product is known to help maintain skin quality, and according to the artist, a massage can be a real mood booster. Pecheux, who doesn’t believe in overdosing the skin with foundation, then used Encre de Peau All Hours Primer, a new product that gives a radiant glow and finish. Then with the help of another light formula novelty, Encre de Peau All Hours Concealer, he erased all kinds of imperfections

The rest of the make-up look was very unassuming, with nothing on the eyes except a touch of concealer on the eyelids to make the eyes pop. Curled eyelashes and brushed brows also made the eyes stand out. When it came to the lips, Pecheux complemented the colour of models’ lips by mixing a teeny bit of  Tatouage Couture N°7 with Top Secrets Lip Perfector. Some of the models like Kaia Gerber had their hair scraped back in a simple knot to complement the make-up.
