Leading Luxury Retailer Provides Fashion Careers to Saudi Youth

A major luxury store has started the local campaign #MYBOLDFUTURE to help young Saudis carve out a future in the retail industry in the Kingdom.

The organization revealed the digital media campaign at Fashion Futures on October 11, a major event that the Saudi Arabian Fashion Commission hosts every year, and demonstrated how Chalhoub has assisted in the career launches of various individuals.

According to Lynn Al-Khatib, general head of communication at Chalhoub Group, who spoke to Arab News, brand consultants are the ones that truly represent the brands in-store because of their interaction with customers.

“We wanted to really demystify the job, attract young Saudi youth towards it, and at the same time, create awareness about Chalhoub Group and the brands that we operate.”

The goal of Chalhoub Group is to satisfy the region’s expanding need for high-end clothing while also assisting the sector. In keeping with their audacious strategy, the group’s President Patrick Chalhoub told Arab News earlier this year that the company intends to double its employees in the Kingdom to up to 6,000 workers over the next five years. The company wants to show how its retail employees have contributed to the industry and become entrepreneurs as part of its campaign.

Al Khatib added, “I think the truth will only inspire the young generation. They’re not looking for just advertising; they’re really looking to create impact. They look for jobs where they want to be part of something bigger, where they feel they want to learn.”

The company is dedicated to Saudization, young employment, and career training, all of which are priorities of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 for economic development.

The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation in the Kingdom have formally recognized Chalhoub Group’s Retail Academy as an accredited training facility. Retail frontline employees have access to innovative and hands-on training programmes through the institution.

Reem Al-Maiman, a Chalhoub Group store manager, said: “There is support for us as Saudi women or Saudi youth … They keep creating opportunities for us to learn and to be bigger in these industries. This transformation would result (over the coming) years of great women and role models and (pave) the way for younger generations to come.”
