Meet Qatar’s Brilliant Beauty & Skincare Expert

Haneen Alsaify's entry into the beauty industry was sparked by her creative solution to her personal eyelash problem. False lashes are notoriously difficult to apply and come with sticky adhesive that rips out real lashes when removed. Alsaify set out to find a better way to use them without turning to salon extensions. Further research led her to magnetic lashes, a trend that has gained popularity for being simple to apply and remove painlessly while yet providing a beautiful appearance.

Although the most popular method of application uses magnetically charged eyeliner to draw and adhere each strip, By Haneen Alsaify lashes is straightforward in terms of functionality. The product comes in two halves for each eye and has a magnet implanted in the base of each lash strip. The silk lashes are held in place close to the lid by magnets that are positioned to enclose the natural lash and boast a five-second application period. The end effect was a hit with realistically, luscious lashes that adhere firmly for all-day wear without slipping or leaving behind sticky glue. Each pair of eyelashes lasts about as many wears as a conventional glue set.

Alsaify's aptitude for solving problems then turned to a new personal beauty conundrum. After returning to Doha from the US and being unable to find the Korean goods, she had used while studying chemical engineering, the entrepreneur set out to bring her favorite brands home. She took a chance on exposing the Asian niche to an Arab market by only placing orders for the brands and products she believed would be most appealing to Qatari women. Her new business, which included an alluring blend of contemporary formulae and natural components, turned out to be the ideal match for her local customers.

Alsaify began as a modest skincare distributor but has further grown her business to Be Cosy (becosystore.com). The online store, which specialized in selected beauty products and stylish yet comfortable loungewear, became a must-visit destination for Qatari shoppers during the pandemic. Along with Be Cosy's own line of gua sha and other beauty tools, it carries popular Asian brands including Dr. Jart, CosRX, Laneige, Banila, and Dear, Klairs. Alsaify believes that the website's tailored skincare consultations, which guarantee that customers select the products that are ideal for them, are essential for K-beauty novices.

Her upcoming product is an eye serum with an anti-aging formula inspired by K-beauty that will increase hydration. According to Alsaify, the impending launch is just the beginning of innovative concepts from her burgeoning beauty company.
