JW Anderson announces the release of a womenswear capsule collection, inspired by the '80s South Korean cartoon Run Hany. The television programme, which ran over 13 episodes, focused on the plucky teenage female protagonist Hany, who in a coming-ofage experience, commits to running a marathon to take solace from her adversities.
The collection comprises of ready-to-wear, kitten heel boots, bags, and accessories emblazoned with illustrations recreated by Run Hany's original cartoonist. Hany’s likeness appears across pieces including tracksuits, party dresses, hoodies, graphic tees, and kitten heel boots. These figurative prints, also accented with South Korean typography and kitsch heart motifs, feature on the brand’s signature bags styles as well: the Bumper-Moon and Anchor Bag.
The capsule was first introduced as part of the Women’s FW22 collection release in February 2022 – unveiled through a series of images featuring actress Hari Nef, photographed by Juergen Teller. Printed as billboards and mounted on vans that travelled the streets of Milan during fashion week, the images were then shot again by Teller for the official presentation.
