Inside Dubai's New Smart Health Center

Last week, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, and Deputy Ruler of Dubai, officially opened the Smart Salem center at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

The facility's quick medical screening for resident visas is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and smart automation, which frees customers from waiting in line. At the brand-new cutting-edge facility, visa applicants can now receive their medical fitness results in just 30 minutes. The center also boasts the region's first automated blood collection system. There are also other robots moving around, including one for transportation, one for barista duties, and one for hygiene inspections.

The center is equipped with seven private blood collection rooms, three X-ray rooms, an on-site laboratory, eight smart check-in kiosks, in addition to an Emirates ID biometrics office and an Amer support office.

The 12,000 square foot DIFC Smart Salem center is completely digital and paperless and serves 800 customers per day. This is the city's second Smart Salem facility. The first, opened in 2020, and is in City Walk. The TECOM region will shortly see the opening of a third center that will also provide 30-minute screening capabilities.

Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), said: “The launch of the new Smart Salem center showcases Dubai’s drive to implement the latest technologies across all sectors to enhance the customer experience, reduce waiting time and raise service efficiency.”

“The facility in DIFC will provide customers with high-quality services in a comfortable and exclusive setting. Located in the heart of Dubai, the state-of-the-art facility reflects the Emirate’s commitment to provide exceptional, technology-driven services that can enhance people’s happiness.”

Soon, the new facility will have Emirates ID biometrics and other support services for visa applications available on-site. From Sunday to Friday, the Smart Salem locations in City Walk and DIFC are both open six days a week. Customers will just need to spend 60–90 minutes at the facility to acquire their digital visa.
