DGDA Launches “Program Your Passion” for STEM Students

Saudi Arabia’s Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) is set to launch its new “Program Your Passion” initiative, which is aimed at preparing Diriyah’s students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for the digital market. The program is expected to cater to students in both middle school and high school.

With the rising digital and gaming markets, “Program Your Passion” will consist of two programs: the first will introduce students to the mechanisms, coding, and algorithms behind their favorite video games, whereas the second program will cover video game design, including 2D and 3D models, concept arts, and animation. In short, the initiative will be ideal for aspiring game designers and coders.

The two programs will be provided to students in association with the DigiPen Academy in Diriya, and will be offered in Arabic. For high school students, there will also be a weekend course on Saturdays. At the time-being, twelve male and female instructors are obtaining the necessary skills to teach students via the “Trainer’s Training” workshop.

Ahlam Al Thunayyan, Director of the Community Shared Values department at the DGDA, has said that the “Program Your Passion” initiative will benefit Diriyah’s community greatly. Furthermore, she stated that it is just one of several to come, all of which will be in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 program.

In fact, Vision 2030 aims to help pivot the Saudi economy from the Kingdom’s overreliance on oil exports, hence by diversifying the economy by providing other services such as the digital market. Simultaneously, Saudi Arabia’s demand for gaming contents is set to rise in the coming years, and initiatives such as “Program Your Passion” will provide the necessary skills for Saudi Arabia’s game industry to meet the demand.
