HH Sheikh Mohammed Announces Opening of Expo City Dubai This October

Dubai Expo 2020 is fondly remembered for bringing the world together to exchange ideas and solutions to global problems, while showcasing their cultures, histories, and business opportunities. Today, however, Dubai is pleased to announced that it is transforming the venue into a new smart city.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid announced via Twitter that Expo City Dubai will be open to the public on October 1st, 2022. "After the historical success of Expo 2020 Dubai, visited by more than 24 million visitors & left a mark in the 170-year history of World Expositions. Today, we announce [the] transformation of the exhibition site into Expo City Dubai, a new city that represents the ambitions of Dubai," he said.

In fact, Expo City Dubai is currently part of Dubai's 2040 Urban Master Plan. In addition to stunning architecture, the city is set to focus on providing housing, as well as spaces for businesses, leisure, and sport facilities. It will have new museums in addition to world-class exhibition centers, and headquarters of fast-growing companies.

"Expo City Dubai will be an environmentally-friendly city that caters to families and future generations. A city connected to a port and two airports, and also to beautiful memories in the hearts and minds of millions of people," His Highness Sheikh Mohammed added.

Expo City Dubai will also be reachable via Dubai Metro. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia's iconic pavilion is also expected to stay, as well as other landmarks such as Al Wasl Plaza, the Garden in the Sky, and Surreal water feature. Alif and Terra will be converted into interactive educational experiences, and the Opportunity Pavilion will be converted into the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum. However, we should expect an announcement regarding other nations' pavilions in the coming months.
