Ithra & Saudia Launch An Awesome Competition

Creatives in Saudi, are you ready for this one?

The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) and Saudia have announced an art design competition, with the winning entry to be shown on one of the airline's planes.

Part of Ithra and Saudia's commitment to support local art, the competition will reach global venues for people to display their skills and originality. Take it literally, when we say global scale, because the winning art work will be travelling across the world (pun intended.)

The competition will take place from June 6 through July 23. The winner, according to Ithra, will be announced in August.

Arab News reported that entrants are asked to use the center's slogan "Inspire Your World" as inspiration.

Saudi specialists and creatives will band together to form an esteemed jury.

“This exciting competition presents the abundant talent pool we have here in the Kingdom, with a creative opportunity to make their mark. Ithra is committed to advancing the Kingdom’s creative sector and nurturing its talent by providing impact-driven opportunities showcasing the imagination, innovation, and creativity of these talented individuals across global platforms,” Yousef Al-Mutairi, head of Ithra’s communication and partnerships division, told Arab News.

Every year, Ithra holds an open call for contributions from both Saudi & Saudi-based artists, as well as artists from other Arab countries. Similarly, Saudia engages in national and cultural events, and is the driving force behind several significant programs promoting the country's creative community.

It proudly displayed appropriate artwork across its fleet for important events such as Saudi National Day and the G20 Summit.

Khaled bin Abdulgader Tash, Saudia's group chief marketing officer, expressed his delight at being a part of the competition.

"We always support such events and occasions around the Kingdom, and we are frequently the first to sponsor imaginative activities like this one." Our planes are perfect billboards for showcasing Saudi ingenuity to the rest of the world," he said.

Last September, in fact, Arab News reported that Ithra and Saudia signed a memorandum of agreement at the Prince Sultan Aviation Academy in Jeddah. Placing Ithra's emblem on a Saudia jet is one the examples of their successful strategic partnerships.
