Meet Malika El Maslouhi, Moroccan Italian Model

Malika El Maslouhi is a Moroccan Italian model who has quickly risen in popularity in recent years. Since her debut, the trailblazer has signed up with high-profile brands such as Calvin Klein, Chanel, Dior, Valentino, and others, with Vogue Arabia ranking her in the top 15 best models for spring 2020.

El Masoluhi was born in Milan, Italy. She came from a mixed family, with a Moroccan father and an Italian mother. At the age of 18, she started her career as a fashion model, but it wouldn’t be till she was discovered by “Why Not Models” when new opportunities came knocking. From 2019, El Maslouhi has been featured in major publications, and on the catwalk, she has also signed up with the fashion industry’s top brands from Europe.

Like most influencers, El Masoluhi also maintains a social media presence with over 47,000 followers on Instagram. She occasionally shares photographs with her followers, some of which from the catwalk, while featuring clothes and accessories from popular brands. In May 2022, she uploaded a shot of her sporting a pair of shades by Jimmy Choo. The project is set to be part of the brand’s beach campaign for the summer.

Outside the catwalk, the fashion model also hopes to inspire Arab women in the fashion industry. In an interview with Vogue Arabia, she said “On a smaller scale, I have become a reference point for several young women telling me how proud they are to see an Arab girl representing them on a global stage. [...] It gives me energy every day to fulfill that role, and to try to represent a positive light for Arab women so we can progressively and constructively move forward.”
