Nur Abbas is The New Head Designer For Yeezy

Kanye West, who now calls himself “Ye,” had once prophesized in his song, “Life Of The Party” from his recent “Donda” album, that he “might hire the whole team from ACG,” and it appears to be coming true!

With his fashion label Yeezy, in collaboration with Adidas, having been a stellar hit with his fans and fashion lovers alike, Kanye West has just appointed the former design director of Nike ACG, Nur Abbas, as head designer for Yeezy.

The Yeezy sneakers, produced in limited quantities, sell out as soon as they launch, with his styles such as Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 going for as much as $1200 USD on the resale market.

West’s eye for fashion and style has never gone unnoticed as many retort that he has been responsible for his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian’s style evolution – and so with his knowledge of the intricacies of style and the fashion industry, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that he has appointed Abbas as head designer for his label.

Following his graduation from Kingston University in the UK, Nur Abbas began his designing career as an assistant designer at Maison Margiela, and Gucci and Louis Vuitton, where he was a senior designer for almost 10 years, and was also a head designer at Uniqlo for menswear. In a statement, Yeezy said that Nur Abbas will “work to further expand the Yeezy empire, working directly with Ye to direct and launch special projects for the Yeezy brand.”

The designer will be responsible for overseeing all of Kanye West’s fashion projects including Adidas – for those Yeezy sneakers, and his collaboration with Gap and the clothing line for the his Stem Player music device, whilst also working on all of West’s merchandise.

In a chat with WWD, Abbas said, “I’m energized to work with Ye because he cares so deeply about design and moving culture forward. At Yeezy and Gap, I’ve met some of the most talented people and teams, and I’m looking forward to working with them all to extend this new creative vision to the world.”
