Emirati designer Madiyah Al Sharqi, and Lebanese digital influencer and entrepreneur Karen Wazen, have joined forces once again to breathe life into the Madiyah Al Sharqi x Karen Wazen Collection for Spring Summer 2022. Sharing a love for everyday luxury and a style philosophy they both believe in, the designer and influencer duo received a very enthusiastic reception for their debut collection last year and have since strived to uphold their design sensibilities to bring their fans and clientele a signature and noteworthy aesthetic.
The SS22 collection is a natural continuity of the seamless unity of Madiyah Al Sharqi’s signature soft-palette hues, penchant for exaggerated silhouettes and subtle whimsical details.
For the latest collection’s campaign, Wazen is seen sporting a 60’s style bouffant blonde hairstyle, a far cry from her usual straight brunette locks, and a high fashion winged eyeliner and metallic eyeshadow. The SS22 collection sees the influencer’s favorite pieces and silhouettes from the Madiyah Al Sharqi brand archive - a ‘70s style summer wardrobe redux in playful cutout dresses, tailored monochromatic sets and romantic separates manifested as ikat-style and tie-dye printed silks, and wrinkle textured fabrics in soft pink and neutral tones.
Madiyah Al Sharqi’s most loved-signatures over the years are revived through the asymmetrical Millie and Mayla dresses, which offer a one-shouldered flute sleeve and mock neck, in both maxi and mini lengths. Whether for day or night, each dress offers an opportunity to be styled up or down. The Kamilla, a bias-cut midi dress with cowl neck is reissued in pale pink, while the Kiki mini dress is an effortless summer staple featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline, puff sleeves and tiered skirt.
Injecting her keen eye for adventurous dressing, Wazen navigated through new shapes to include in the repertoire. A noteworthy piece is the Kali backless dress with flattering cutouts on the shoulders and bodice, before draping into a dramatic slit, floor-sweeping skirt.
Elevated essentials round up the collection with matching sets, offering the flexibility of mixing and matching separates in wrinkle-effect textiles. Cropped button-downs with lapel collars in short or long sleeves can be teamed with off-the-moment high-waist Bermuda shorts, miniskirts and wide leg trousers.
