Veganuary Becomes Instantly More Exiciting At Dubai’s Open Sesame

Whether in the mood for a healthy starter or must-try dessert, guests can take a culinary journey into the tantalising vegan options at Open Sesame.

We’re deep into January, meaning #Veganuary is in full swing, with many kicking off the year with the clean movement that calls non-vegans to observe veganism throughout the month. If you’re living or visiting Dubai and need inspiration while sticking to foods that are made of fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes and grains, something that’s good for you and the planet, head down to Open Sesame social eatery. Located in Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown, the restaurant is serving delicious plant-based options to guests looking to embrace a more sustainable and healthier lifestyle.

One of the crowd pleasers on the menu is the delightfully crisp and light fennel and apple salad, which comes with contrasting pomegranate seeds and micro greens. Meanwhile, anyone looking for a hearty dish can tuck into the vegan polenta. Cooked just as it should be and topped with slightly charred broccoli, tomatoes and freshly made pesto, this dish offers some real comfort in a bowl. And sweet toothed guests should make sure to leave space for some indulgent vegan chocolate cake, made with a rich coconut milk mousse. The trimmings include a decadent chocolate sauce, coconut jelly swirl with dates, chocolate tuile and contrasting tart wild berries.

Designed to immerse guests in the local cultural surroundings of Dubai, the restaurant focuses on locally sourced produce using traditional cooking techniques. And the Mediterranean cuisine-inspired menu features all kinds of bright and colourful ingredients, carefully chosen by expert chefs.

Another reason to visit Open Sesame is the gorgeous décor around the restaurant and in the boutique hotel influenced by local heritage. Restaurant guests are welcomed by a luxurious arch at the entrance, designed by world-famous French fashion designer Christian Lacroix. Open Sesame also features work from Dubai-based photographer and artist Marta Lamovsek. Her mesmerising collection of 14 portraits called “Home is Feeling” is on permanent display for diners to admire while enjoying their meals.

In fact, Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown, a vibrant blend of sophisticated Arabic aesthetics with a contemporary flair, is home to 200 art and design objects created by local and international artists that also make an appearance at Open Sesame. They are curated by the hotel’s in-house Art Manager.
