Sprint Alongside Usain Bolt At Expo 2020

Everyone from children to the elderly can get their running shoes on and take a jog alongside record-holding sprinter Usain Bolt, to raise money for charity at Expo 2020 in Dubai.

The event will take place on Friday November 13th as part of the Gatorade Pavilion (Mobility District) and will benefit Al Noor Rehabilitation & Welfare Association for People of Determination (Al Noor Training Center).

The run, which is 1.45km and open for anyone and everyone to participate, is being conducted by PepsiCo through a partnership with the Sports, Fitness, and Wellbeing Hub at Expo 2020 Dubai, and whats more is that it will allow participants to meet the one and only Jamaican Olympic sprinter, Usain Bolt.

In a statement, Sholto Douglas-Home, Chief Sales & Marcomms Officer, at Expo 2020 Dubai, said, “We are thrilled by the opportunity for Usain Bolt, alongside our partners at PepsiCo and Gatorade, to help bring focus to one of Expo 2020’s central themes–to inspire people to embrace, on a daily basis, the importance and value of fitness, health, and wellbeing in their lives.”

Also running alongside Usain Bolt will be an Emirati athlete with more than 18 Special Olympic accolades, Hamda Hosani. Hosani, who has epilepsy, achieved her sporting dreams against all odds and was surprised by Bolt with a Zoom call where he invited her to run with him at Expo 2020.

Douglas-Home also stated, “Sports has the enduring power to bring people, communities, and nations together, so we are honored that Usain has agreed to be a part of the Run the World event and are confident that it will encourage many people to run for their own good causes.”

As for the charity, it was established in 1981 and became one of the first centers for people with disabilities in the UAE. The Al Noor Training Center looks to enhance the lives of young people of determination through the medium of a number of therapies, vocational training, work placement schemes, co-curricular activities, and much more.

The run is open for all to join and you can register for it here.
