The fifth installment of Project Art will shine the spotlight on contemporary embroidery with Dubai-based French artist, Azaïdé

Returning for its fifth edition, Project Art is giving art lovers a chance to see a unique exhibiton that sheds light on modern embroidery. The programme that is highlighting the skill with a two-week residency by artist Azaïdé, who will also offer an exciting workshop, is ongoing until 10 October. Taking place at Zabeel House by Jumeirah, The Greens, the city’s funkiest award-winning property, the must-visit event is showcasing a series of masterpieces displaying Middle Eastern cultures, mixed with icons of pop culture, hip-hop and digital elements. Azaïdé’s original art pieces will also be available for purchase throughout her residency.


Art lovers can join an embroidery workshop on October 3 for AED 50 per person

Best known for her avant-garde embroidery technique that blends retro pop-art styles, Azaïdé gives her spin on the traditional method by making connections between vintage and vogue, tradition and innovation, in addition to art and fashion. Having travelled extensively, the French creative has been exposed to multiple cultures, colours, textures and patterns, and she favours sharing the eclectic sights via her art.

Art lovers can get a peek into Azaïdé’s thought process and learn the craft first-hand at an unmissable interactive workshop by the artist scheduled for October 3. The workshop, which is from 11am to 1pm, costs AED 50 per person with all embroidery materials included.

Project Art is an interactive initiative created to embolden Dubai’s burgeoning art community. It gives homegrown talents the chance to exhibit their work as well as lead educational masterclasses and creative workshops in a free-of-charge space.
