Dubai Invites You To Run Through The Expo 2020 Site

What a way to get your workout in!

Dubai residents and citizens ought to dust off their running shoes for this unique opportunity to participate in a run through the Expo 2020 Dubai site. The run will take place on November 19th 2021 across the 192 pavilions, and calls for everyone from all ages and nationalities to come and take part in a choice of a 3k, 5k or 10k run.

The participants will be divided into age groups, based on their chosen distances. For the 3k run, runners will be in the following groups; 0-8 years, 9-12 years, 13-18 years, 19+. The 5k run consists of eight categories ranging from below-13, 13-15 years, 16-18 years, 19-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, and 60+, and the 10k consists of below-19, 19-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60+ categories.  

In the run up to the mini-marathon, the Dubai Sports Council is arranging several training sessions and runs in partnership with AIS Athletics to prepare everyone for the inclusive sporting event.

Runners are also welcome to make it a family affair as there will also be The World Family Run, which is a 1.3km family-friendly run through Ghaf Avenue. Sponsored by the Dubai Sports Council, The World Family Run will host four different runs every Saturday from 9th-30th October 2021. The Sports Council has also organized free morning and evening training sessions by experts in October at the Expo Park from October 3rd -6th, October 10th – 13th, October 17th-20th, and October 24th – 27th.

The Council has so much more sports events coming up this winter including the 16th Dubai International Sports Conference (DISC), the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, the FIDE World Chess Championship 2021, and the Hamdan Bin Rashid Masters International Chess Championship. Dubai will also host 30 international sporting events during Expo 2020 such as the cricket Twenty20 World Cup and men’s and women’s Rugby World Cup qualifiers, to name just a few!
