Anna Faris and Chris Pratt: The Split That Broke the Internet

It’s unfortunate to hear that the lively and comedic actors of Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have officially split up as a married couple on August 6th. Their relationship lasted nearly a decade when they first met at a table read on the film Take Me Home Tonight, tellingly cast as love interests. They were married in 2009 and had a son in 2012. This will be the first divorce for Pratt and the second for Faris, having previously been married to actor Ben Indra.

Anna Faris first became recognized as comedic leading lady for playing Cindy Campbell in the horror satire Scary Movie (2000), a role that she would reprise for three more sequels. She continued to star as a major supporting character in many romantic comedies, eventually landing the lead role of the wise Playboy bunny in The House Bunny (2008) and the savvy scientist of the animated feature Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009). She would also star alongside Faris in the ensemble comedy anthology Movie 43 (2013). Her most recent roles were appearing as herself in the Key and Peele action-comedy Keanu (2016) and the hacker icon Jailbreak in the animated film The Emoji Movie (2017).

Chris Pratt needs almost no introduction for being the A-list actor he is today. He first became a notable name when he played one of the leads on the ensemble TV comedy Parks and Recreation. Though he had a few supporting roles in movies during his Parks and Recreation era, he became a household name in 2014 when he voiced the toy hero of Emmet in The Lego Movie and the intergalactic outlaw Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. He again played a hero in the massive blockbuster action-franchise film of Jurassic World (2015). All three of these films were major successes and already have sequels greenlit with Pratt returning to all of them. He most recently reprised Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017).

Pratt posted the following statement on his Twitter about the separation:

“Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.
