The UAE To Accept Foreign Visa Certificates

It's been over a year since the world suffered the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and is still in the throes of it. From lockdowns and social distancing to suspended travel, it seems that after lifesaving vaccines have been administered the world over, life is slowly beginning to resume as normal.

In an announcement made by Brigadier Khamis Al Kaabi, official spokesman for the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, during the National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority’s weekly media briefing on August 10th, it was revealed that covid-19 vaccination certificates issued outside the UAE are set to be accepted August 15th 2021 onwards.

According to the authority, only those who have had approved vaccines will be allowed entry into the country, and the approved ones are noted on the Al Hosn app. The new policy is in place to ensure the safe entry of visitors, who should register their information using the ICA UAE smart app or by going to smartservices.ica.gov.ae. Passengers who wish to benefit from being completely vaccinated by vaccines approved in the UAE can optionally register for vaccination certificates.

In a statement from Dr Noura Al Ghaithi, acting CEO of external therapeutic services at Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), she explained the update of some features of the Al Hosn app: “The new update provides travel information, the status of arrivals or departures from red-flagged countries with an indication of the day of arrival, in addition to the vaccine information. A page of the official vaccination certificates and Covid-19 test certificates stamped by the Ministry of Health and Prevention has been added.”

According to the doctor, the QR code in the app may be read straight from the phone’s camera or through the app’s built-in scanner and will be transferred to the Al Hosn web page if the Al Hosn application is not accessible on the scanner phone, “and the last four digits of the Emirates ID number, the unified number, or the passport number will be requested.”

The application is determined using 3 colors; if the app’s color for the user is green, the negative test is effective; if the app’s color for the user is grey, the test is ineffective. If the application is red, it signifies the user has tested positive for COVID-19.
