The First Saudi Open Volleyball Tournament Is Happening This Week

Congrats! The first Saudi Open Volleyball Tournament for Women, which begins on August 5, will feature fourteen teams.

The zonal qualifying matches are happening until August 21st in Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Eastern Province. According to Saudi Gazette, the championship final will happen on September 9 at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh and will include six teams.

Four teams from the Riyadh zone, seven from Jeddah, and three from the Eastern Province will go against each other in the qualifying stages. And then, every zone will send two teams to the final round.

The qualifications will be held in Jeddah and will feature the Blue Jays, Blue Jays 2, Blue Clickers, Ocean, Flamingo KSA, Jeddah Technology, and Swift.

Following the Jeddah zonals, teams such as Al Ettifaq Club, Al Ettifaq Academy, and the Eastern Summits will play in the Eastern Province.

Hanan Al-Qahtani, a member of the Saudi Volleyball Federation's Board of Directors, expressed her enthusiasm and pride about the Kingdom's first ever women's volleyball tournament.

“This tournament will mark the beginning of the breakthrough towards forming a large and strong base for women’s volleyball in the Kingdom, and emerging the national team, which in turn will take part in the international matches outside the Kingdom,” she added, as reported by Saudi Gazette.
