The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has deemed the COVID-19 vaccination to be safe for pregnant women and has started to administer the vaccine to expectant mothers. On June 29th, it was announced and confirmed that all DHA vaccination centers across Dubai are administering the vaccine and recommend women to take it within their first 13 weeks of pregnancy.

In order to get the vaccination, pre-registration and booking an appointment is necessary and can be done via the official DHA’s app or on WhatsApp on 800342.

It has been reported that the DHA is strategically expanding its vaccination drive to a number of social groups that could be eligible for the vaccination in Dubai – falling into the plan that was implemented in December 2020.

The vaccination campaign includes pregnant women and allegedly shields them from high risks of infection and the more people that can be vaccinated in the city, the higher the chances are of diminishing the spread of the coronavirus.

Dubai’s Health Authority has reserved doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to be administered to pregnant women, but have also imparted that it is imperative that if they have any underlying health conditions, they should consult with a specialist doctor who has been monitoring their pregnancy.

With one of the highest vaccination rates in the world, the UAE has administered over 15 million doses to around 9 million people.
