Cartier Appoints Saudi Actress As Their New Middle East Ambassador

Luxury fine jewelry brand, Cartier, appointed Saudi actress and filmmaker, Fatima Al Banawi as their new Middle East ambassador.

Unveiling their most recent fine jewelry collection, ‘Sixieme Par Cartier,’ the brand’s president and chief executive at Cartier International, Cyrille Vigneron, hosted an A-list gala in Lake Como in Italy over the weekend.

Saudi star, Fatima Al-Banawi was part of a VIP guest list that included Italian supermodel Mariacarla Boscono, Egyptian actress Yasmine Sabry and Lebanese filmmaker and actress Nadine Labaki, among other high profile industry names. Adorned in a black and white gown by Lebanese couturier Zuhair Murad, Fatima Al-Banawi attended a gala dinner at the stunning Villa Làrio for which guests dressed up to the nines, bringing their high fashion A game.

Al Banawi joins the ranks of other Arab Cartier ambassadors, including Yasmine Sabry, who was the first Middle Eastern ambassador for the French fine jewelry house. The Saudi actress has a rather accomplished academic background as she studied Psychology at Jeddah’s Effat University and then went on to obtain her master’s degree in Theological Studies at Harvard.

It wasn’t until 2016 that she was first noted for her performance in the movie, ‘Barakah Meets Barakah,’ after which she was casted for the Egyptian Netflix series, ‘Paranormal.’

Quite the talented creative, Fatima also works behind the camera and in 2020, directed her first short film entitled, ‘Until We See Light,’ and within the same year co-wrote, co-directed and starred in "Al-Shak," a Shahid Original series, which she shot herself from home during the pandemic. This year, Fatima Al Banawi is currently working on her first feature length film, entitled ‘Basma.’

Not only a director and actress, she is also known as a Saudi Arabian storyteller, as she founded ‘The Other Story Project,’ a storytelling project that collects handwritten life stories by the people of Jeddah and turns them into creative productions, including the short film ‘A Blink of an Eye.’
