There isn’t any doubt that Saudi Arabia has long been a lure for luxury retail. And by choosing to launch its autumn 2021 pre-collection in Riyadh’s Centria Mall, Givenchy is showing it’s one of the brands that knows how important availability, along with other factors like heritage, is when Saudi women decide to purchase a high-end piece.
The French luxury brand synonymous with Parisian chic and haute couture has set up an exclusive, dedicated pop-up store at the premier luxury shopping complex in the Kingdom’s capital, where clientele can browse the collection by Mathew M. Williams.
In the collection, the American designer who was appointed Creative Director of Givenchy women's and men's collections in June 2020 fuses extravagance, classicism and radical style. Givenchy’s latest silhouettes highlight sensorial, enveloping materials, massive volumes and sculptural silhouettes defined by crisp tailoring and an architectural approach to layering.
Likewise, this personalized retail environment reprises Williams’ chunky "G-chain” cubes on a grand scale, stressing the tactile aspect of materials and finishes via 4G-embossed wall coverings in pink rubber. Elements in polished stainless steel, brushed chrome and glass also make an appearance.
Along with selected pieces from the collection, the season’s star accessory, the modern and timeless “4G” statement handbag, is specially showcased on humanoid sculptures by the British-born artist Ewan MacFarlane. Blending Parisian elegance and studied functionality, the arm candy comes in two styles, a flap bag and a chain bag. And visitors to the pop-up will be able to see the exclusive debut of the “4G” chain bag in emerald-coloured python with gold-finish metal embellishments. It is presented alongside other “4G” handbags, crafted in full-grain box calfskin with luxurious metallic embellishments, reflecting the designer’s love of industrial hardware. They come in classic and seasonal colours like avocado green, baby pink, red and dark khaki or a special debossed high frequency finish.
The Givenchy pop-up at the Centria Mall in Riyadh will be open until August 3, 2021.
The luxury fashion house has been making waves since French designer Hubert de Givenchy launched his eponymous fashion house in Paris in 1952. Rising to prominence and catching the eye of fashion enthusiasts thanks to its mastery of silhouette and creative takes, the label was often spotted on celebrities like ubiquitous Givenchy muse Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy. Today, Givenchy is still dominating the luxury fashion market with Meghan Markle and Kim Kardashian on its list of fans.
