Here Are 3 Mental Health Services In The UAE

Across the globe and in this region, there are many people who live every minute with mental or behavioral health issues. That is why Mental Health Awareness Month was established in May of 1949, to help create positive conversations around the subject, to help reduce the stigma so many people experience, and to highlight tips, resources, and strategies for attaining mental health and wellness. In line with this approach, we’re starting off this year’s Mental Health Awareness Month with three mental services in the United Arab Emirates that you or anyone you know who is seeking help can access:

1. Thrive Wellbeing Center, Dubai

Thrive is based in Dubai, offering a team of dedicated psychologists that provides individual psychological therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and couples, as well as consultant psychiatrist to support its clients.

Its full range of counselling and psychological services include, but are not limited to: strategies for the treatment for depression or anxiety; experts in art therapy and play therapy, used to mostly help children with both emotional and behavioral issues; and marriage counselling and relationship therapy.

2. Maudsley Health, Abu Dhabi

Part of King’s Health Partners (KHP), one of England’s six elite Academic Health Sciences Centers, Maudsley Health is an international leader in the field of research, education, and translational medicine in mental health.

Established in London, it has over 700 years of experience in mental healthcare, and is in fact the oldest psychiatric institution in the world and Europe’s leading psychiatric institution, according to its official website. It has a top-notch facility in Abu Dhabi made possible through a commercial partnership with MACANI Medical Center.

3. The University Hospital of Sharjah (UHS), Sharjah

Established in 1997, UHS offers psychiatrist services and a team of qualified and experienced experts. The university’s website states that it offers “a plethora” of services that “encompass and not restricted to- Psychopharmacology, service provision of people with severe mental illness, diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, presentation of mental illness in different cultures, patient compliance of outcome of treatment of psychosis and motivational psychology and promotion of mental health in the community and on an organizational level.”
