Sheila Al-Rowaily: KSA's Influential Woman in Energy

Sheila Al-Rowaily, CEO of Wisayah Global Investment Management Company “an Aramco subsidiary” has been selected as part of Hart Energy’s 2021 class of 25 Influential Women in Energy. The recognition, now in its fourth year, highlights the accomplishments of women who have had an impact in oil and gas globally.

Upon her landmark appointment, Mr. Nabil Al Dabal, Aramco VP Human Resources, congratulated her saying:

However, she is not alone, but rather a link in a long chain of female leaders in our company. Our commitment to supporting female education and the professional development of women spans every phase of their career journey. We are excited to continue building our pipeline of female talent, ensuring even more influential women just like Sheila will help us to reliably supply energy to the world. “

During her time at Aramco, Sheila has led a number of innovative and complex projects, including the creation of Wisayah, an investment management company which is responsible for investing the Company’s pension funds. Sheila credits her experiences at Aramco for her leadership development, from her roles in finance, investment and risk management to planning and energy economics. Sheila is a passionate advocate of female development and empowerment, and has been active in supporting diversity and inclusion in the industry. At Aramco, she sits on the Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee, where she helps shape Company policies and advocates for more women in leadership roles.

In an interview with Hart Energy, she highlighted her belief that the oil and gas industry was vital to sustainable development. As for the future of the industry, Sheila believes that oil will remain in high demand for many years, and that the industry will see an ongoing adoption of new technologies. Sheila also underscored the need for companies to be cognizant of ESG related developments and global policies and engage with the various stakeholder groups including peers, policy makers, and others, to actively set meaningful strategies and solutions on ESG-related policies.
