Grammys 2021: 12 Best Looks

Some of these looks deserve to be in the music fashion hall of fame…

Music’s biggest night has traditionally produced some of the most iconic looks in fashion history, and we certainly got the standout looks we were waiting for on Sunday. Presented in the new part-digital hybrid format and hosted by Trevor Noah from the Los Angeles Convention Center, the 63rd edition of the Grammy Awards, was undeniably chock-full of memorable looks. Whether they were on the physical red carpet or beamed in from home, the music industry’s hottest stars proved how they can do it brighter and bolder than their TV or movie counterparts.

Noah Cyrus, Miley’s younger sister, nominated for this year's Best New Artist award, went the extra style mile in an off-white white, voluminous, floor-length Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown from the spring summer 2021 collection. The “July singer’s arty, original draped and pleated look featured a massive duvet-style silk stole around her shoulders. Another major fashion moment came from Cynthia Erivo, who delivered drama in a sparkly silver custom Louis Vuitton column gown with cut-out detail. The high-shine Nicolas Ghesquière-designed piece is embroidered from head-to-toe and features over 60,000 glass beads, crystals and sequins. A style stakes winner, Erivo was nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media for "Stand Up."

Popping colours were a big highlight at the event that was supposed to take place in January, with Megan Thee Stallion making a grand entrance in a bright orange Dolce & Gabbana gown. The “Hot Girl Summer” rapper, who took home the coveted Best New Artist, simply sizzled in the strapless number that featured a giant bow and thigh-high slit. Also wearing head-turning Chopard jewellery, she told E! News she wanted to “look like a Grammy.” Taylor Swift, another big winner, opted for an Oscar de la Renta gown embroidered with a colourful bouquet of flowers (and a matching face mask). The flower-power long sleeved mini dress may have been from the brand’s autumn 21 collection, but the Album of the Year recipient looked like spring incarnate.

Pretty and feminine hues also made a mark, and along with Harry Styles’ must-have custom Gucci mint green feather boa scarf, we had Lizzo’s 80s style sea foam green gown by Balmain. The “Juice" singer, who was not nominated but attended as a presenter, looked stunning in the shimmering strapless, ruched bodycon design. And just like Megan Thee Stallion, she was dripping in jewels (Bvlgari). Plus, Dua Lipa, who nabbed Best Pop Vocal Album, looked dreamy in a custom barely-there gown by Ateleier Versace, which was inspired by the Northern Lights. The unflappable singer with six nominations could be seen twinkling from afar in the dazzling chain metal rainbow-coloured dress that was decked out in Swarovski crystals and featured a "very symbolic" butterfly across the bodice.
