Queen Letizia Proves she’s one of the World’s Best Dressed Royals on UK State Visit

All her magnificent looks during her official visit to England, from stunning tiaras and evening gowns to refined daytime ensembles, confirm Queen Letizia is the reigning ambassador of modern royal style.

Finding a photo of Queen Letizia of Spain looking anything other than perfectly dressed seems to be an impossible task. So it wasn’t surprising to see her pulling out all the sartorial stops while joining her husband, King Felipe VI, for their first-ever state visit to the UK.

The visit enabled the Spanish style influencer, who is the nations’ first divorcee Queen consort, to unite with another royal famed for her fashion sense, the Duchess of Cambridge. Interestingly enough, they also share having middle class backgrounds and popular down-to-earth approaches, including recycling their chic outfits.

Known for her glossy, polished style, streamlined silhouettes and matching accessories, some of Queen Letizia’s favourite designers include Lydia Delgado, Lorenzo Caprile and Loewe. However, she also always turns to Felipe Varela, who has created many of her go-to ensembles in the past. Click through to see all the journalist-turned-royal’s looks during the three-day visit, including those from Varela.

Spaniards were already very familiar with Queen Letizia’s sense of style before she became Queen consort in 2014 as she was the anchorwoman on Spain's most popular daily evening news programme on TVE. Born Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano, the beautiful royal holds a Master’s in Audiovisual Journalism but has also worked as a newspaper journalist. She has reported on stories like the Iraq War, the 2000 US presidential election and New York’s Ground Zero following 9/11.

While departing for the official visit to the UK, Queen Letizia opts for a recycled white Hugo Boss outfit. The sleeveless “Ileti' top she wears with the knee-length “Valeti” pencil skirt features peplum detail. She peppers the simple, tasteful ensemble with Magrit snakeskin pointed toe heels and a Lidia Faro python clutch. Glamorous Hugo Boss cat-eye sunnies and delicate Australian pearl and diamond drop earrings add the perfect finishing touches.

.During a reception at the Great Hall of Buckingham Palace, the 44-year-old Spanish royal is an elegant ray of sunshine in a Felipe Varela lemon hued coat dress. She wears s summer tweed coat over the dress, which features a guipure lace hem. She perfectly complements the set with nude pointed toe Prada stilettos and a clutch bag by Magrit. However, it’s the bespoke Maria Nieto brimmed hat with the floral decoration, the first headpiece we’ve seen her in since becoming Queen consort, that is getting us all excited.

Queen Letizia stands next to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth before a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace. She wears a stunning red off-the-shoulder figure-hugging Felipe Varela dress with embroidery and a detailed bodice that cinches at the waist. She teams it with Magrit’s “Mary” red satin clutch. The grand occasion is the perfect opportunity to dust off Spain's stunning diamond “Fleur-de-Lis” tiara, also known as “La Buena," which was made a century ago for her husband's great-grandmother.

Queen Letizia exudes royal classiness during a Guildhall banquet hosted by Lord Mayor Andrew Parmley. For the lavish event, she wears a floor length midnight blue asymmetric draped gown. The mother of two daughters coordinates the dress with her navy satin Felipe Varela clutch bag. She dons another Spanish heirloom, the “Mellerio Floral” tiara, which features diamonds set in gold and silver in floral and vegetable motifs. She also wears stunning drop earrings with diamonds and stones to match her dress and diamond bracelets stacked on one arm.

For a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider at Westminster Abbey, Queen Letizia wears an outfit she’s already worn several times before. She matches the floral Carolina Herrera Flower Fil Coupe Party Skirt, featuring a full box pleated silhouette, with a navy Felipe Varela silk blouse. Her accessories include black patent leather strappy peep toe Magrit shoes and a midnight blue satin pleated clutch. Additionally, one of the look’s highlights is the dazzling pair of diamond and turquoise earrings.

On the last day of the visit, Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI head to the Francis Crick Institute research centre to meet members of the Spanish scientific community working in the UK. They also make a stop at Weston Library in Oxford. Queen Letizia ensures to leave a lasting impression with a high-waisted midi-length pleated ivory-dusky pink skirt. The Topshop skirt can be described as a diplomatic nod to British fashion. She pairs the elegant number with a white wrap around blouse with surplice neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. For accessories, she chooses one of the season’s trendy raffia clutch bags, with this Suma Cruz model featuring a floral motif, and towering burgundy suede pumps with ankle straps by LODI. She offsets the look with pearl drop earrings.
