3 Regional Photographers Join The Renowned Canon EMEA 2020 Ambassador Programme

Saudi’s Tasneem Alsultan is one of those linking up with some of the world’s top photographers and videographers from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa…

With the region teeming with artistic talent, it isn’t surprising to see more and more success stories coming to light. One of the latest is Canon in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) recognising three leading regional photographers for their 2020 Ambassador Programme. After crushing the most competitive selection process yet, Tasneem Alsultan, Muhammed Muheisen and Jorge Ferrari have joined 56 other new professionals as Canon EMEA expands the world-renowned pioneering initiative.

Saudi-American Alsultan is an investigative photographer, storyteller and global traveller who offers an intimate and unique perspective into the everyday lives of her subjects. And hailing from Jordan, Muheisen is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, who has documented major global events. For the past decade, the shutterbug has been following the refugee crisis around the world. UAE-based Ferrari, meanwhile, is an action and commercial photographer, who is known for his striking images and captivating visual storytelling.

The three uber-talented creatives won over an esteemed panel of 13 judges who reviewed nominations for over 450 photographers. The judges evaluated over 20,000 photos covering news, documentary, wildlife, weddings, portraits, sports and more.

“The Middle East is home to a rich pool of talent and we are proud to offer a platform that showcases the creativity of the region. We are continually looking for talented photographers and videographers to cultivate their talent and help take the art of visual storytelling to new heights,” Binoj Nair, B2C Marketing Director at Canon Middle East, said. “With the addition of three new ambassadors within the 2020 programme, we will be able to showcase the diversity, depth and richness of the Middle East, with even more fortitude and conviction.”

With the largest ever intake, now featuring a total of 115 Ambassadors across EMEA, this is Canon’s most exciting and diverse programme to date. Seventeen incredible young photographers, including Ksenia Kuleshova and Michele Spatari, alumni of the Canon Student Programme and Young Photographer Award winners, are among those who are being enabled, empowered and supported with the tools to tell stories that matter.
