The stars have really put a unique spin on the holiday custom…

America’s holiday “Elf On The Shelf” tradition has become a hugely popular global experience, mainly thanks to social media channels like Instagram and Twitter. Families have been going all out while thinking of humorous and innovative places to put those adorable dolls. However, this year, celebrities have taken things to the next level with the #myelf challenge and given “Elf On The Shelf” a modern, creative and goofy meme twist.

A-listers have chosen to have some fun with the custom, creating a viral sensation while doing so. They have been posting images of themselves with another celebrity super-imposed onto their shoulder. However, there is one hitch, just like “Elf On The Shelf,” the names must rhyme. It all started with Garcelle-on-Pharell, when actor Garcelle Beauvais reposted a photoshopped picture of her sitting cross-legged on Pharrell Williams’ shoulder. The picture came with the message, "You've heard of Elf on a Shelf, now get ready for this. "And celebrities didn’t hesitate to start jumping on the new virtual craze.

Reese Witherspoon:

Nicole Kidman:

The ‘creator on creator’ challenge has churned out some amazing rhyming sequences, proving how some of the biggest stars’ rhyming skills are on point. From Elizabeth Banks’ Hanks-on-Banks, Reese Witherspoon’s Grease-on-Reese and Mic-on-a-Nic from Nicole Kidman, Hollywood’s brightest are really keeping spirits high.

About The Elf On The Shelf’ Tradition
The Popular children’s book, “Elf On The Shelf,” is behind the Christmas holiday tradition. The story in the book published in 2005 by Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell is about elves visiting children every day between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. They’re sent by Santa every day to keep an eye on children’s behavior and then report back each night, telling him who is being naughty or nice. While children can’t touch Santa’s little helpers, they can chat with them and reveal what’s on their holiday wishlist.

Idina Menzel:

Sarah Michelle Gellar:

Mark Ruffalo:

The popular holiday tradition sees parents bringing an elf doll to their home and telling their kids he is watching over them during the day, but goes back to the North Pole each evening to tell Santa what he’s seen. Each morning, after returning from his assignment, the elf is placed in a different location in the home. Many parents don’t stick to the ‘shelf’ part and have fun placing him anywhere around the house for the kids to find.
